Advocates hoping to raise awareness about domestic violence took to the streets Saturday.
More than a dozen Big Island residents held a sign-waving and vigil on the corner of Queen Kaahumanu Highway and Makala Boulevard in Kailua-Kona, where they acknowledged victims of domestic violence and supported survivors of abuse.
The event was organized to coincide with Domestic Violence Awareness Month, started by the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence and observed each October since 1987.
